Day 4 ~ Cannon Beach/Pacific City

cannon beach

We left Pacific City and headed North to Cannon Beach.  I love Cannon Beach.  It's my favorite coastal town in orgeon.  It's just so quaint & charming.  Dan and I spent all of our anniversaries here when we were first married before we had children.

Bruce's Candy Kitchen is always on the list.  The storefront just begs for a picture it's so cute.

It's not a trip to the beach without saltwater taffy!

I love the landscaping around all of the shops.

We paused for an ice cream break.  No two flavors alike in our family!

These are my people.  I adore them.

Re-enegized, we walked a bit more around town....

My favorite store is a christmas shop where I usually find an ornament to add to our collection.  Dan found something that beckoned him....

We then headed south again to Pacific City witch has one of our favorite restaurants ~ The Pelican Pub.

After dinner we headed out to climb the dune....

The incline isn't too bad when you first start up the dune.

But then it becomes pretty extreme.  This photo depicts the grade ~ it was NOT easy climbing this in the sand.  It required considerable determination (and one break) to get the to the top.

Kaitlin would lay down and then run up the hill and collapse again.  Get up and run again.

Our efforts were rewarded with this spectacular view.  It was beautiful especially as the sun was setting and the light was turning golden.

I was taking video of the kids as they were running down the hill but unfortunately it didn't save for some reason.  Andrew went running down at full tilt and face planted in the sand.  It was certainly good for a laugh.

It was such a wonderful day.  I loved it from start to finish and now love the memory.  The drive alone was several hours round trip which in itself was enjoyable ~ I loved taking in the coastline and just getting to be together as a family.
