Sausage Fest

Dan and I both have childhood memories of attending the "Sausage Fest" in Richland.  Dan grew up in the church and attended the parochial school for which the fund raiser is held.  Dan's parents still attend the church and we returned for some sausage fest fun with them.

The booths are still the same.  I love that the kids are going and making memories and it looks exactly the same as when we were kids!

Matthew was pleased with his winnings at the pop toss....

All of the old favorites were still there....

The kids collected all sorts of prizes and were thrilled with each little treasure.

I love that they are happy over little things.

There was a definite theme to Kaitlin's prize selections.

The fishing was a favorite of mine. I remember how mysterious it felt to have something unseen tug the end of the line. :)

Kaitlin was SO happy that she got a plastic pink lei. I'm telling you. It's the little things....

The boys loved the Cork shoot and Grandpa gave them a special lesson.

Andrew had his own cheering section on this game.

Dan and I bought the kids some tickets. Grammie and Grandpa did as well. Nana showed up and bought more. then the kids ran out. Nana couldn't have that! She went and bought more!  My mom looves to spoil her grandkids and I try to let her enjoy that but clearly, sometimes I'm not as good about it, as you can see my mimic in the corner.  She was shaking her head and saying, "Oh my goodness..."

Kaitlin is still exclaiming over the tickets. :) So funny.

The Bug took her tickets and headed straight for the Lollipop tree and searched for the winning lolli....

And found one!

There was a new game. Called something like the Chicken fling...where you stomp on this contraption and send the chicken flying and try to get it in the bucket.

Our kids showed a natural talent for it.

Leave it to us to be good at the chicken fling.

Unfortunately, I don't think they give scholarships for it.

Dan enjoyed showing the kids around his old school. His class was pictured in this poster. He's on the bottom right. With hair! :)

sausage fest-18

We finished our time with our sausage, corn and funnel cake!

We went back to Dan's parent's house and had a really relaxing afternoon. I caught a nap and the boys had a ball with a pile of wood, a hammer and some nails.

Andrew had some trouble with the hammer so he was trying to improvise with a rock. :)

Matthew worked and worked at the pogo stick until he jumped over 200 consecutive jumps!

sausage fest2-9

He even jumped from the driveway up to the deck and back down again while Dan and I sat and cheered him on.  It was nice to just sit and spend time with the kids and relax.

Meanwhile, the bug had fun with a new friend.  It was a great weekend with Dan's family!
