I found myself scrolling through the pictures and I saved a few for future reference and thought I'd post them here. I'm still on my major house clean out/organizing kick and am working on the master bedroom right now. My goal is to have it done before we leave for Seattle next weekend. That means I need to tackle the ironing that is in there. I shared with my sister in law last night (as I was ironing, thank you very much) that I came across a size 18-24mo dress in that pile. It is where clothes go to die. It's my pile of shame. :) When I get to the bottom I'm going to have a small party for myself.
Anyway, part of my clean out/organizing process is looking at the rooms and figuring out how I want to decorate some of them that have been neglected since we moved in. Lots of neglect going on upstairs. Particularly in our bedroom and the bonus room. So I've been looking for ideas and inspiration.
Being the practical (ha) person that I am, I talked Dan into taking down the ceiling fan in the master bedroom upon moving in and hanging my Grandma Helen's antique crystal chandelier that I love and holds many dear memories for me. I sat underneath it growing up enjoying "espresso parties" with my "Grandma" Helen who was the definition of a "lady" and someone I loved dearly. I will always have that chandelier hanging somewhere in my house. My Dad rewired it for me before we hung it.
Anyway, it was a mistake. The fan was there for a reason. We cook in the summer, and I've concluded our room needs air circulation. The chandelier is too small in scale for our dining room but would work in our kitchen, except it's very formal. I've been debating the issue with Dan and stumbled on this photo and thought it would look very similar to this as this kitchen resembles ours!
I love it!
The bonus room/craft closet will be tackled soon. I liked the look of the above storage.
I like orchid in the entry way. I might need to do that.
I like this mix of photos/art/handprint. Similar to what I've been contemplating for our bonus room.
Love this idea.
I'm attracted to sort of a formal/french country feel. It's funny because I never would have pictured Dan living in a house like that and yet, when I ask him if he likes what I've selected he always says that he does...perhaps he's just sweet? :) Anyway, just some fun photos to refer back to. I'm sure there will be more to come. Since my blog is private I'm not bothering with crediting the source.
Dan is working in the concession stand tonight for little league...I am manning the troops.
Duty calls....
