A Lost Tooth, My helper & The Bug "Live"

In between all the festivities, Andrew lost his front tooth!!

He got into the van after school and it was gone ~ his baby tooth smile gone forever.  I'm always a little sad when the front teeth go, as their face changes so much....
When he smiled at me, I immediately felt sentimental and said, "Awe, Andrew!  Your tooth!" and went on and on until Matthew said, "Aren't you happy to see ME?"  :)

Then Dan came home from work and did the exact same thing.  Apparently we are both attached to that little baby-tooth smile.

Kaitlin LOVES to be my helper. And I love it too, but sometimes when I'm in a hurry it isn't so helpful. I finally got smart and gave her a ball of dough to sit at the table and play with, roll out and cut as she deemed fit while I made the cookies for her party.

She went to her play kitchen, got out her utensils and went to work. And all on her own, produced this:



I'm thinking I might leave the Christmas cookies to her this year! :)

And just a couple of videos of her.  I thought the Grandparents might enjoy these....

The first was Valentine's Day.  She was so cute when she'd open a card that I got my phone and taped her.  We ended up prompting her a little in the video to get the reaction she'd been giving us prior to the video, but it was just too cute not to tape.

The second happened the other night as I was getting dinner ready.  I looked into the family room and she was sitting on an upside down hamper with her dog on her lap, reading stories to her.  It was so cute.  She read all her little books, and I sat and recorded a bit of the last one.  I made her loose her train of thought a little bit, but it was still cute.  I love these sweet moments.  I'm realizing there's going to be a big change in her over the next year....4 to 5 is a big year.  So I'm just soaking up these sweet moments right now.

Tae Kwon Do Wrap Up

I'm about a week behind in my posting. I feel like there is so much going on in the lives of the kids these days it's hard to keep up! 



It is with great relief that I report we finished our 6 month Tae Kwon Do commitment.

Whew!

That just took two days of commitments off the calendar for each week.

It has been SO good for Andrew though.  I'm really, really glad that we did it.  And we'll be signing up again as it's one of the things that is really supposed to help him, but I'm taking a break over the holidays.

I can see a big difference in Andrew from those beginning weeks/months of classes until now.  He still has his days, but overall he was doing much better at the end.  His instructors were so positive and encouraging as well ~ I always felt very grateful.

At the end, Andrew was often selected to demonstrate for the younger kids ~ wonderful to see him singled out as a leader.  This is a very positive change for him. 



This is a very short video but watch all the way to the end right before the video cuts off.  That's my favorite part.  So very andrew.  :)



Matthew has really wanted to sign up, but we told him he needed to wait until next session. We wanted Andrew to have his own moment (something that rarely happens).  But I'm sure next session they'll have a fun time doing this together and I do think it'll be great for Matthew as well.  I highly recommend it for all kids ~ boys and girls!

Andrew's Bus Race

Did you notice he didn't even turn around that time to wave?  He sat down and started talking to a little boy.  A friend!  I was actually really happy to see that.

Katie kept fussing after I stopped taping saying, "I'm going to miss Andrew."
She does miss her brothers and is really happy when it's time to go and get them.

Me too.

You know when someone does something and for whatever reason at that particular moment it just strikes you as so funny (even if it really isn't all that funny) and you can't stop laughing, and so the other person starts laughing and then you're kind of just laughing at each other?

I was making lunch today and Katie was jumping up and down to make her mouth bounce up and down and was laughing at herself and it was just cracking me up.

I got a bit of it on video.

This may or may not be funny to anyone else.  :)
