A Thankful Party!

IMG_6623

We had our "Thankful Party" today!
Here are our little friends upon their arrival after school.
When they walked in Hannah said,
"I just love coming here."
Melt my heart.

The party was so easy to put together thanks to the darling printables!
I was able to put it together with a lot of what I already had on hand.

Andrew called the little ships the "mayflower."
And of course a little bag of treats to take home...

A cute coloring page.

A place setting.
I decorated the faces of the turkeys for Kaitlin and Grace, but let the bigger kids do their own.

When the kids arrived they did their coloring pages and filled out their "Thankful" cards.

The children wrote down what they were thankful for.
Matthew and Hannah had quite a list of thoughtful things that I can't record because I now can't find the papers.
(Dan "cleaned up" some of those things).
Anyway, Claire was sweetly thankful for "God."
A pouting Andrew
(who was not happy that he had to color before eating the treat)
was thankful for "Nothing."  :)
This was distressing to Matthew who pleaded that I NOT write that down and write something like "family" because that would be more appropriate.
And upon suggestion from one of the kids,
Kaitlin said she was thankful for "Cinderella."
More distress from Matthew.
How could he possibly be related to such thoughtless siblings!?  :)
He is so funny.

The children then decorated and assembled their turkey cupcake.
This was the one that I made for an example.
(I think this idea was from the "Family Fun" website).

The Bug was pleased with her creation.
She was the last one to leave the table.
So much sugar to be consumed...

The moment Andrew had been waiting for finally arrived!

These two were so cute.
After the snack they sat down and wrote a chapter book about Thanksiving.
Complete with information about the pilgrims, Native Americans and the Mayflower.
Then, Hannah taught Matthew cursive.

Here's Gracie with a mouthful of food and a smile.
She is so funny.  :)
She is nearly always smiling.

It was so nice for the kids to have time together.
I was happy to have them here.
Kaitlin calls them "my girls."
My kids love these little girls,
and I really do to.
They were sad when it was time to go.
All too soon.

Thanks for coming and being Thankful with us, dear friends!
