As of today, it has been three years since my Dad passed away.
I've written a lot about my Dad and how special he was to me. And I've shared about this journey that has been long, and honestly at times, much more painful and difficult in ways that I could not have anticipated.
But also rich in lessons. In life and in faith.
I miss my Dad deeply right now for a variety of reasons.
I'd love to be able to sit and talk with him. There is a lot that I would love to have his counsel on. There are many small things I'd like to share. And big things too.
I miss being understood the way that he understood me.
I miss being loved the way a Dad loves his daughter.
And I'd simply love just one more hug.
Or more.
More time. More conversations. More memories.
I find that tears come to my eyes a little easier during the month of October.
This year finds me feeling pretty drained, tired, a little more introspective and a little less like sharing.
I'm weary of sounding sad and depressed about this and prefer this year to just hold the rest of these thoughts and feelings close to my heart.
I'm spending the day in Richland with Mom and will return home early Friday where an upbeat and fun weekend awaits.
But as for today...
my heart grieves.

Kathy, my heart goes out to you. Your Dad was one in a million and I feel fortunate to have known him a little bit. Know that you are not alone and that you are loved, not quite the same I know, but there is no love stonger that a daughter's love for her father. Sending you much love and warm hugs. Perhaps you can find the time to sneak away and go to a favorite spot of the two of yours. Have a chat with your Dad. I know he is listening.
My heart is heaving for you today friend!! I will keep you close in prayer and thought. Love always!

Thinking of you today, holding you close in my thoughts. It's a tough day. It's okay to want solitude. And it's okay to cry.
Kathy,
Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you today! I can only imagine all the memories, emotions and wishes that are stirred up again today. While I know today isn't the only day that your heart is heavy and hurts the memories of today 3 years ago has to be so heavy! I pray that your time with your mom is a sweet time and that you feel the peace that only God can give! I am praying that you are able to have some time to let your self once again grieve your loss and just be. I so appreciate the encouragement and support you have been to me in my life walking through my loss. God has used you to bless me in more ways than you know! Blessings, love, hugs and prayers today my friend!

Love to you, all. I think of Walt, and I smile! I think of how he and aaron would sit and talk for hours... I am confident they are doing it now. :o) he was a gift... as is your whole family. What a legacy he has created! b

Kathy - thank you for coming home to be with me. There are so many times in the past three years, when I have sat and said, now what would Walt do or he must have showed me how to do this. I will never forget his love for me, you and Mike. He only wanted the best for all of us. I miss him so much.
